Why buy online instead of at a depot?

A cash and carry works if you have time to drive out, queue, load a van and pay the standard wholesale price. For a busy shop or kitchen that is a lot of hours and fuel for stock you could order from your phone. ClearanceFood brings the wholesale to you: browse live lots, check the dates and price per unit, and have it delivered — or collect where a seller offers it.

Because the stock is surplus, overstocked or short-dated, sellers price it to move quickly. That usually means it lands below a normal cash and carry price, and on auction lots you can bid lower still when demand is quiet.

Who uses it

  • Convenience stores, corner shops and off-licences restocking shelves
  • Cafes, takeaways, restaurants and caterers sourcing ingredients and packs
  • Market traders, discount stores and pound shops chasing wide margins
  • Online resellers listing on eBay, Amazon, Vinted and marketplaces
  • Offices, gyms and community groups buying drinks and snacks in bulk

How buying works

Some lots are fixed-price Buy Now; others run as auctions where you set your price. Public lots are open to any buyer with no membership. Register your business, pass a quick approval, and you also unlock B2B and wholesale-only lots plus larger pallet quantities. Every listing shows the price per unit, case and pallet, the dates, and delivery or collection terms up front — so there are no surprises at a till.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an online cash and carry in the UK?

Yes. ClearanceFood works like an online cash and carry for clearance and surplus stock: shops, caterers and market traders buy branded food and drink by the case, pallet or full lot and have it delivered or collect it, instead of driving to a depot. The difference is the stock is surplus and short-dated, so it is priced to clear - usually below normal wholesale.

How is this different from Booker, Bestway or a traditional cash and carry?

A traditional cash and carry sells standard stock at a fixed wholesale price and expects you to travel to a depot with a trade card. ClearanceFood is online, needs no membership card to browse, and lists surplus and short-dated stock that sellers need to move - so prices are typically lower. On auction lots you can also bid to pay less rather than accepting a set price.

Do I need a business account or membership?

No membership card is required. Public Buy Now and auction lots are open to any buyer. If you register your business and complete a quick approval, you also unlock B2B and wholesale-only lots and larger pallet quantities.

Can I get the stock delivered instead of collecting it?

Yes. Consumer-size lots go by tracked courier and pallets move on freight, with the cost shown before you commit. Where a listing offers collection you can still pick up from the seller or our Harlow base to save on delivery.

Do I get a VAT invoice?

Yes. Orders produce an invoice-friendly record with VAT shown where it applies, so the stock is straightforward to put through your books.
